Package overview
Amboseli, Naivasha and the Maasai Mara across six days. The full Kenya, with every park fee, every night and every transfer inside one price.
This is the trip people picture when they say they want to go to Kenya, and six days is the point at which it stops feeling rushed. You start south in Amboseli with the great tuskers and Kilimanjaro, spend two nights there, then cross the country to Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley for a night: a freshwater lake with hippo, an enormous bird population, and the option of a boat trip or a walk on Crescent Island, which is one of the very few places in Kenya you can walk among game on foot because there are no predators. From there it is the Maasai Mara for the final two nights, which is the crescendo: open grassland, the densest big-cat population in Africa, and between July and October the wildebeest migration. You end with a morning drive and the road back to Nairobi. On price, this package carries the highest fee load of anything we sell, and it is worth seeing why. Amboseli is USD 90 per adult per day and Maasai Mara reserve entry is USD 100 per adult per day January to June, doubling to USD 200 July to December. Across the itinerary that is between USD 380 and USD 580 of government fees per person before a single night's accommodation. All of it is inside our price. Any six-day Kenya circuit quoted to you below about USD 900 per person has those fees sitting outside it. Prices per person sharing at mid-range accommodation: from USD 1,740 at six sharing, USD 2,405 to USD 3,380 at two depending on season. Budget and luxury tiers on request. If your dates are flexible, ask us for the season grid first. Late June rather than early July on a group of four is a difference of several hundred dollars a head, for an identical trip, purely because of where the Mara fee boundary falls.
The route
The Itinerary
Day 1 — Nairobi to Amboseli
Pickup around 06:30, four to five hours south via Emali. Lunch at camp, then an afternoon drive across the dry lake bed and the Kilimanjaro-fed swamps where the big tuskers gather.
Day 2 — Amboseli, full day
Dawn drive while Kilimanjaro is clear of cloud, which is rarely true after mid-morning. Elephant families studied since 1972, plus lion, cheetah and buffalo. Observation Hill at sunset for the view across the whole basin.
Day 3 — Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
The long transfer north, roughly six hours, skirting Nairobi and climbing into the Rift Valley. Afternoon at leisure by the lake. Optional boat trip among the hippo, or the walk on Crescent Island, one of very few places in Kenya you can walk on foot among game.
Day 4 — Naivasha to the Maasai Mara
Morning departure south-west into Maasai country, arriving early afternoon. First game drive from around 16:00 as the light softens and the cats begin to move.
Day 5 — Full day in the Mara
Dawn drive from 06:15 across the plains and the Mara Triangle, back for the hot hours, out again mid-afternoon until the 18:00 gate. Between July and October the wildebeest herds and the Mara River crossings are within reach, though no crossing can ever be guaranteed on a given day.
Day 6 — Morning drive and return to Nairobi
A last drive at first light, clearing the gate by 10:00 so no second day of reserve fees is triggered. Lunch en route and arrival in Nairobi late afternoon, dropping at your hotel or JKIA.
